The AI Parenting Guide

The assessment tells you where you stand. The AI Parenting Guide tells you exactly what to do next — in order, with the settings, the scripts, and the printables already written for you.

Who this is for

You're not looking for a lecture on the dangers of technology. You already know something has changed. What you don't have is a plan you can execute on a Sunday afternoon, between laundry and soccer practice.

That's the whole point of this. Complexity is the enemy of execution — so the AI Parenting Guide gives you three rings, in order, with nothing to figure out. You don't need a computer science degree. You need a sequence.

What's inside

01Ring 1 — The Machine

The 30-Minute Lockdown

A guided pass through every AI app in your house: turning off chat history and data training, patching the Mosaic Effect, and getting devices out of bedrooms without a fight.

  • The Amnesia Setting, app by app
  • The Fake Details Rule your kids will actually use
  • The Medical & Legal Ban
  • Setting your family safe word against voice clones
02Ring 2 — The Mind

Training the Pilot

How to keep AI as a co-pilot instead of an autopilot — so your child's thinking gets sharper instead of softer.

  • The Co-Pilot Rule: brainstorm, never draft
  • Building the skepticism habit against confident wrong answers
  • The Intent Check: why, not what
  • Protecting analog hours without banning anything
03Ring 3 — The Heart

Filling the Tank

The center ring, where the battle is actually won. How to be the safest place for your child's shame, and why that beats every filter you'll ever install.

  • Naming your family's True North values
  • The Judgment-Free Zone conversation
  • Countering junk-food intimacy from companion bots
  • Reclaiming authority by saying "I don't know"
04Make it stick

The Family AI Agreement

A printable, signable agreement your whole family builds together — plus the quarterly Sunday Summit that keeps all three rings from quietly eroding.

  • Fill-in-the-blank agreement template
  • Age-by-age guidance, 6 through 18
  • The Sunday Summit checklist
  • Scripts for the five hardest pushbacks

Questions

Do I need to be technical?
No. Every setting change is written out click by click, and the majority of the AI Parenting Guide isn't technical at all — it's conversations.
My kids are little. Is this too early?
Ring 1 takes thirty minutes and matters at any age. Rings 2 and 3 include age-by-age guidance starting at six, and the habits are far easier to build before a phone shows up than after.
Is this just about banning things?
The opposite. Bans don't travel to a friend's house or to college. The goal is a kid who can use these tools well and walk away when they should.
How long does it take to work through?
Ring 1 is a single afternoon. Rings 2 and 3 are ongoing by design — they're habits, not tasks. Most families do the first pass across three weekends.
